"We've got a pond!" the tall cowboy whispered backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. My gangly new friend had just asked where my fiance and I would be spending our honeymoon in the spring of 1991, and I offered our fledgling beach plans. As another cowboy pal crooned onstage, we celebrated Michael W. Rutherford's release of a beautiful book of cowboy photographs.
I have always appreciated Michael's talent because his eye becomes my eye. The medium vanishes, and I am there, smelling the food or feeling the fading heat of a sunset and consistently falling in love with his subjects. Michael is a clear channel between what he shoots and those blessed to encounter his work.

Almost thirty years later, Michael's art continues to bring the past vividly into the present. My family and I are thankful to celebrate his work again in our home with this beautiful canvas. His golden moment at the end of a cowboy's long day intrigues our guests, and takes my husband and me back to a fabulous week on a ranch...with a pond.

P.S. If you get the chance, please share with Mike that his framed poster featuring "Down to the Sea in Ships" graced our nursery for many years and is still a treasure.
Linda, we have shared with Mike and anyone else that happens upon this wonderful story. Thank you so much for sharing this with Michael W. Rutherford Photo Artistry.
